Version: 11.6
Author has been busily improved of late. It is currently at version 19. - - Be sure to check out its companion Apps at the dev site:
(1) Liquid, and (2) Reader. Despite the iOS version blunders, I enjoy the Mac version. The dev is quirky. But it's enjoyable to use and still gets my 5 stars.

Warning: The iOS version of Author commonly runs into problems copying documents to iCloud. Oddly and sadly the only option in iOS Author is saving to EITHER iCloud or your iOS device, never both. If the iCloud upload fails, you've LOST what you wrote. That is NOT ACCEPTABLE EVER! - -> I've been directly interacting with the dev regarding this problem, and so far he has not corrected the problem. As such, ONLY SAVE to your iOS device. Period. iCloud saving is NOT reliable! - - Because of this unsolved problem, I'm looking elsewhere for a default iOS writing app. ☹️
